Preparing for your appointment

It’s perfectly normal to feel some anxiety before your OB/GYN appointment - but a little preparation can help reduce the stress around your visit. Regular visits to your specialist can improve your overall health and help your doctor address any conditions and diseases early on.

Know what to expect

Your gynecologist may perform a pelvic floor examination, a Pap smear and order other screenings or tests based on your age and lifestyle. These exams are quick and they are important to understanding your current health and establishing any necessary treatments. Patients can always request a female attendant if it will make them feel more comfortable during their exams.

Be honest

In order to provide the proper treatment, it’s important to be open with your doctor about any information that is relevant to your health, including your lifestyle, sex life and any issues you are experiencing. Just remember: our doctors have decades of experience and they have seen and heard it all.

Make a list of notes

It’s natural to forget things you wanted to discuss with your doctor so feel free to write your concerns down on paper and bring them with you to your appointment.

Know your body

You know what’s ‘normal’ for you and your body so be sure to describe any changes to your overall health and wellness.
